Our Music Purpose
The Music ministry of The Lighthouse SDA church is critical to a good worship experience and should be carefully coordinated in the church. The music team is a vital part to the ministry of this body of believers and to its surrounding community. Consequently, members should view their function as ministers of the gospel through music and song.
Membership on the music team (in any way) is a position of Christian leadership. The primary function then, is to lead, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the congregation at hand in true worship. “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth”. (John 4:24) We emphasize that our purpose and calling is that of leading others into the very presence of the Living God. There is no calling issued for “performances” and “showmanship” – - only true praise and worship. Therefore, members must strive continually through prayer and example to be pure of heart before God and others.
Vision
The vision for The Lighthouse Music Ministry department is to maintain a musical program of excellence. We desire to have praise/worship team(s), including singers and musicians, choirs (adult and children) for both worship services and outreach ministries.
Mission
The mission of the music ministry department is to lead others into a meaningful and saving relationship with Jesus through songs.
Our Clerk Background
We have the Bible today in part because clerks (scribes and secretaries) wrote down
the story of God’s mighty acts. Baruch, Jeremiah’s secretary, we are told in Jeremiah 36, wrote the words of the Lord, which Jeremiah dictated, onto a scroll. When the king didn’t
like the message Jeremiah brought from God, he calmly cut the scroll into little pieces
and cast them into a flame.
Not to be outdone, Jeremiah gave another scroll to Baruch and dictated not only all the words that had been on the scroll the king had burned, but more. Luke, the author of Acts, could be called the first ”church” clerk, for he wrote about the traditions and interests of the church in Jerusalem and in Antioch.
You may not always visually see the moving of the clerk’s department, but we are in the
background, working to ensure the administrative aspects of the church run smoothly.
The department of the church clerk is dedicated to ensure that the church’s records are
maintained and that the church’s business is documented appropriately.
The clerk duties are to work close with the pastor, church officers and church members.
It is the goal of this department to report on board and business meetings, membership,
records, directory, bulletin and to administer to the clerical needs of church.
